The more mathematically gifted among you may have
spotted that there's only 10 names, which bucks the long standing
tradition of cricket being played by teams of eleven. We're nothing if
not trend-setters. The good news is that nobody has to worry about
being sent in at number 11. The bad news is that the weather gods are
threatening to urinate on our parade unless we can find 7 virgins to
sacrifice (by this I mean there's a hint of rain in the forecast for
Sunday).

We've got a couple of new players in the line up, so
lets make them feel welcome. Its also going to be Matt's first crack at
the captaincy, so we'll find out if he is as good a leader on the field
as he is off it.

If its raining on Sunday when you wake up,
ASSUME THE GAME IS ON UNLESS YOU HEAR OTHERWISE. Sir Rich will be
contacting the groundsman in the morning and if we're not going to be
able to play he will arrange for a message to be relayed to everyone
via mobile phone (so best check we've got your number right above).

Directions
and travel details are below. I'll be jumping on the 1226 train at
Hornsey, so anyone else on board I'll see you then. For the new guys,
if you are running late just drop Matt Lindsay a text (see number
above). If you are driving, no need to get there any earlier than about
1 - we're not big on warm ups!

Cheers, and here's hoping for a little ray of sunshine on Sunday afternoon

Roxy

It's a 1.30pm start

Here's a link to the directions.

Gents,

Its Friday afternoon, so stop pretending to work - you're not fooling anybody!

The start of the cricket season is upon us, with the first game of the season scheduled for next Sunday (April 26), which is also my sister's birthday, so I expect a strong turnout in her honour. Not that she'll be there. Or care for that matter.

Anyway, the venue is Walthamstow Horizontals, who puzzlingly are based in Winchmore Hill, which is a brief train journey from Kings Cross (see full details below). So, time to blow off the cobwebs and don the no-doubt-by-now slightly off-whites for another season of glorious achievement off the pitch, and indifferent performance on it. I've already had a couple of guys sign up for a hit, and we've got the basis of a good side. All we need is a wicket-keeper, some bowlers and some batsman and we'll be set.

Selection throughout the season will be based on a first come-first served basis except in exceptional circumstances, so let me know as soon as you can to secure your space in the season opening extravaganza.

Cheerio, and hope to see you on the field next weekend

Roxy

PS. Directions, for those who want to know where the ground is, are:

Walthamstow Horizontals, 1.30pm start

Home Ground: The Paulin Ground, Winchmore Hill
Nearest Station: Winchmore Hill (NOT Walthamstow).
Trains from Kings Cross at 26 and 56 minutes past each hour; journey time around 20 minutes. Recommended train: 1226 from Kings Cross, arriving 1245. Return trains at 03 and 33 minutes past each hour.

Directions:
From Station: Turn left and walk down Station Road. Cross over Green Lanes and walk along Fords Grove. Ground is on your left.
By Car: From North Circular, take A105 Green Lanes (this is a left turn if you're coming from the west, and a right if you're coming from the east). Cross A111 Hedge Hill/Bourne Lane. Take ninth right into Fords Grove. Ground is on your left; entrance off Firs Lane (first left).

Link to Map: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=531750&y=194250&z=1&sv=531750,194250&st=4&ar=N&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf

Morning,

The medical staff at the Penrith cardio-vascular unit have passed me fit (or did they say they couldn't give a monkeys what an out-of-condition southern w*nker gets up to on their turf?), so...

I'm going to be taking part in the WaterAid Trail 100 event again this year.

On Saturday 6th June, a group of work colleagues and I are venturing up to the Lake District to be one of 100 teams who will attempt to simultaneously reach the top of one of the iconic British high spots selected by Trail magazine. We are tackling Pike of Stickle, one of the Langdale Pikes.

I need to raise £100 in sponsorship to participate.

If you are so disposed - and I know times is financially tough, with many demands being placed on your collective credit-crunched wedge - please consider sending a few quid in my direction. The easiest way of making a donation is using our Just Giving web-page (Chris is the bloke who set it up; this isn't a scam):

http://www.justgiving.com/inapickleupthestickle

Thanks in anticipation of your support; those poor b*stards without access to clean water or sanitation will appreciate it!

Stay Free and enjoy the cricketing summer ahead.
